Storing Phone Number/Cancelling Storage when You Won't Use Your Mobile Phone for a Long Period (Working or Studying Overseas, Etc.)
If you will not use your mobile phone for an extended period of time because you will, for example, work or study overseas, you can store the phone number and mail address (sp-mode) you are using for the 5G/Xi service for up to 6 years, and then resume use after, for example, you return to Japan.
Recently, we have seen an increase in the number of customers who automatically cancel their Phone Number Storage service after the storage period expires. You can cancel your Phone Number Storage by calling from abroad. Please refer to When Cancelling Phone Number Storage for the procedure.
If you apply before October 1, 2022, the storage period will be up to 3 years from the first day of the month following your application. From three months before your subscription expires, you will be notified in the Notification section of your billing statement or in the Usage Breakdown section of the Check Usage Charges page of My docomo. You can also check by phone.

Customers Who Wish to Make a Reservation for Phone Number Storage
You cannot make a reservation for Phone Number Storage. You will not be able to make calls or communicate at the time you apply for the service. If you wish to store your phone number upon departure, we recommend that you apply in advance using (docomo Online Application (in Japanese only)).
Please also note that you may not be able to apply for the Phone Number Storage via (docomo Online Application) for the following reasons, so please contact us in advance if you have any questions.

Notes on Procedures
[Phone Number Storage]
- If the FOMA service is discontinued while you are using Phone Number Storage, your FOMA subscription will be canceled even if you are using Phone Number Storage, resulting in a loss of stored phone numbers and email addresses.
- Phone Number Storage requires a handling fee of ¥3,850 (incl. tax)*2 when you apply for it and each handling fee of ¥440 (incl. tax)/month during storage and ¥110 (incl. tax)/month for Mail Address Storage will be required.
- You can apply from (docomo Online Application) for ¥1,100 (incl. tax).
- The period for Phone Number Storage and Email Address Storage is up to six years from the first of the month following the month of application. However, the period is up to three years from the first of the month following the month of application if you applied for Phone Number Storage before Saturday, October 1, 2022. After the period of Phone Number Storage expires, your 5G/Xi/FOMA subscription will be cancelled on the 1st of the month following the month the period expired.
- If you are subscribed to a billing plan/discount service with a fixed period subscription, your Phone Number Storage subscription will be changed to a fixed period subscription.
- If there are remaining installment payments of an individual credit purchase brokerage contract/installment sale contract during use of Phone Number Storage, you will still be required to pay the installment payments.
- Mobile Device Protection & Delivery Service, Mobile Device Protection Service, Mobile Device Protection Service for iPhone & iPad, Smart Anshin Hoshou, or docomo Pet Insurance will be cancelled if you apply for Phone Number Storage.docomo Cycle Insurance, docomo Onetime Insurance, AI Hoken, and docomo Medical Insurance will not be automatically canceled even after applying for the Phone Number Storage. If you wish to cancel your subscription, please follow the procedure yourself before activating the Phone Number Storage.
- As a rule, all of the discount services and various other services will be cancelled when you apply for Phone Number Storage.
- In cases of canceling the Phone Number Storage to which you subscribed before September 30, 2022, you may choose from the billing plans available at the time*3 or the same plan/service to which you originally subscribed from those billing plans and Packet Pack/Packet Flat-Rate services that are no longer accepting new subscriptions at the time of cancellation.*3
In cases of canceling the Phone Number Storage to which you subscribed on or after October 1, 2022, you may choose from the billing plans available at the time*3*4 or the same plan/service to which you originally subscribed from those billing plans and Packet Pack/Packet Flat-Rate services that are no longer accepting new subscriptions at the time of cancellation.*3*4*5
In addition, if the FOMA service is discontinued while you are subscribing to the Phone Number Storage, your FOMA subscription will be terminated, and you will not be able to subscribe to any FOMA-related billing plans, Packet Packs/Packet Flat-Rate services, etc.
If you wish to change your subscription when canceling the Phone Number Storage, the handling fee will be ¥3,850 (incl. tax).
To subscribe to a 5G billing plan upon cancellation of the Phone Number Storage, a compatible device is required. If you are using a 5G device not purchased from DOCOMO or if you are using a 4G device, you may not be able to subscribe to the 5G subscription billing plan. If you are currently using a non-compatible device and are considering the 5G subscription, please visit a docomo Shop to cancel the Phone Number Storage and change the device model.- Excluding home 5G, 5G Data Plus, data communications dedicated plans, Ubiquitous plans, IoT plans, Data plans, Device Plus, Data Plus, 2in1 (B number subscription), and other services that have been discontinued.
- The application of the Monthly Support and the Monthly Support Set Discount will end with the previous month's usage of the Phone Number Storage subscription.
- This applies only if you have a 4G or a 5G plan subscription at the time of the Phone Number Storage subscription.
- If you apply for Phone Number Storage (regardless of whether the mail address will be stored), all cloud data will be deleted and cannot be restored.
- Store the docomo UIM Card you are currently using in a safe place because it can be used again after you cancel Phone Number Storage. If the card is lost, etc., it will need to be reissued and a handling fee of ¥3,850 (incl. tax) will be required.
- If you have set your phone number as the recipient of your d ACCOUNT security code, you will not be able to receive the security code while Phone Number Storage is enabled. In addition, authentication using the d ACCOUNT Settings App is not available while Phone Number Storage is enabled. Passkey Device Settings remains available while Phone Number Storage is enabled. Some d ACCOUNT services may not be available while Phone Number Storage is enabled, depending on your phone settings.
[Mail Address Storage]
- If you wish to store your mail address, you need to apply for Mail Address Storage at the same time as applying for Phone Number Storage. It is not possible to only apply for Mail Address Storage or apply for Mail Address Storage for i-mode.
- If Mail Address Storage is cancelled during the use of Phone Number Storage, you will not be able to reuse the mail address you used at the time of application for Mail Address Storage even if you apply to resume i-mode or sp-mode when you cancel Phone Number Storage.
[Billing plans and discount services]
- The flat-rate charges of billing plans, flat-rate services, and other services are not calculated on a per diem basis but are billed for the full month (except for the ISP service).
- Discount services will not be applied to the monthly charges for Phone Number Storage and Mail Address Storage.
- The discount for Family Discount, Office Discount, or Business Discount is not applicable during use of Phone Number Storage but the discount is counted for the number of lines within the discount group.
- Minna DOCOMO Wari is not counted for the number of lines within the discount group for the month if Phone Number Storage is used from the first day through the last day of the month during the Phone Number Storage subscription period.
- When canceling Phone Number Storage, you cannot select Zutto DOCOMO Wari Course or Free Course.
[Other services]
- Even during the use of Phone Number Storage, the following services can continue to be used.
docomo Hikari, d CARD/d CARD GOLD/d CARD PLATINUM*6, d POINT CLUB*6, docomo Business Members*6, My docomo*6- Restrictions apply to some of the available services.
- If the period for Phone Number Storage of the mobile phone line paired with docomo Hikari expires and your 5G/Xi/FOMA subscription is cancelled, the payment method of charges related to docomo Hikari will be automatically changed to paying by bill.
- Some services will not be calculated on a per diem, regardless of the number of days of use up until Phone Number Storage is used.
- Even during the use of Phone Number Storage, d CARD or d CARD GOLD/d CARD PLATINUM can be used but as a rule it cannot be used with Osaifu-Keitai. However, if the iD card information in the mobile phone is not deleted, d-Barai (iD) or d CARD (iD) can still be used and usage charges will be incurred. If you will not use d-Barai (iD) or d CARD (iD), perform a full format of the IC card in the mobile phone.
- If you are currently subscribed to the Sub-Line Service, you must cancel the service by yourself at the Sub-Line Service Reception Site before activating the Phone Number Storage. Please note that it may take some time for us to approve your request, and you will be billed separately for any charges incurred during this period, such as call charges and SMS charges for the Sub-Line Service.
