Storing Phone Number / Cancelling Storage when You Won't Use Your Mobile Phone for a Long Period (Working or Studying Overseas, Etc.)

If you will not use your mobile phone for an extended period of time because you will, for example, work or study overseas, you can store the phone number and mail address (sp-mode) you are using for the 5G/Xi service for up to 6 years, and then resume use after, for example, you return to Japan.

If your Phone Number Storage service is automatically canceled after the storage period expires, you will not be able to reuse the stored phone number or email address. Therefore, please ensure that you check the storage period yourself.

If you wish to continue using the Phone Number Storage service, please cancel the current service before the expiration of the storage period and reapply. For more details, please refer to the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)(in Japanese only).

You can confirm the storage period on the itemized billing statement. In addition, you will be notified three months before your subscription expires in the Notifications section of your billing statement or in the Usage Breakdown section of the Check Usage Charges page of My docomo. Please note that notifications via email or other means are not available.

  • To log in to My docomo, you need to set up passkey authentication for your d ACCOUNT before storing your phone number.

Application Conditions

  • Applications for this service will not be accepted from subscribers to the following:
    ahamo, data communications dedicated plans, Ubiquitous plans, billing plans requiring a subscription to Share pack

Customers Who Wish to Make a Reservation for Phone Number Storage

You cannot make a reservation for Phone Number Storage. You will not be able to make calls or communicate at the time you apply for the service. If you wish to store your phone number upon departure, we recommend that you apply in advance using (New windowdocomo Online Application (in Japanese only)).

Please also note that you may not be able to apply for the Phone Number Storage via (docomo Online Application) for the following reasons, so please contact us in advance if you have any questions.

Notes on Procedures

[Phone Number Storage]

  • Phone Number Storage requires a handling fee of ¥4,950 (incl. tax)*2 upon application and a monthly fee of ¥440 (incl. tax) during the storage period. Mail Address Storage requires a monthly fee of ¥110 (incl. tax) during the storage period.
    1. If you apply via (docomo Online Application), the fee is ¥1,100 (incl. tax).
  • The Phone Number Storage and Mail Address Storage periods are up to six years from the first day of the month following the month of application. If the Phone Number Storage period expires, your 5G/Xi subscription will be terminated on the first day of the month following the month in which the period expires.
  • If you are subscribed to a fixed-term billing plan or discount service, your subscription will be changed to Phone Number Storage with a fixed-term subscription.
  • If there are any remaining installment payments under an individual credit purchase brokerage contract or installment sales contract, you will still be required to pay them during your Phone Number Storage subscription.
  • Mobile Device Protection & Delivery Service, Mobile Device Protection Service, Mobile Device Protection Service for iPhone & iPad, Smart Anshin Hoshou, and docomo Pet Insurance will be canceled upon application for Phone Number Storage. docomo Cycle Insurance, docomo Onetime Insurance, AI Hoken, and docomo Medical Insurance will not be automatically canceled after applying for Phone Number Storage. If you wish to cancel these services, please complete the procedure yourself before activating Phone Number Storage.
  • By applying for Phone Number Storage, in principle, all discount services and other services will be terminated.
  • When canceling Phone Number Storage, you may choose from the billing plansand services available at the time, as well as the same billing plan or Packet Flat-Rate service to which you originally subscribed, even if it is no longer accepting new subscriptions. *3 *4
  • If you wish to change your subscription when canceling Phone Number Storage, the handling fee will be ¥4,950 (incl. tax).
  • To subscribe to a 5G billing plan upon cancellation of Phone Number Storage, a compatible device is required. If you are using a 5G device not purchased from DOCOMO or if you are using a 4G device, you may not be able to use a 5G billing plan. If you are currently using a non-compatible device and wish to subscribe to a 5G plan, please visit a docomo Shop to cancel Phone Number Storage and change your device model.
    1. Excluding home 5G, 5G Data Plus, data communications dedicated plans, Ubiquitous plans, IoT plans, Data plans, Device Plus, Data Plus, and other services that have been discontinued.
    2. Monthly Support and Monthly Support Set Discount will end with the usage in the month prior to applying for Phone Number Storage.
  • If you apply for Phone Number Storage, all cloud data will be deleted and cannot be restored, regardless of whether you apply for Mail Address Storage.
  • Please keep your current docomo UIM Card in a safe place, as you will continue to use it after canceling Phone Number Storage. If it is lost, a reissue will be required, and a handling fee of ¥4,950 (incl. tax) will be required.
  • If you have set your phone number as the recipient of your d ACCOUNT security code, you will not be able to receive the code while Phone Number Storage is active. In addition, authentication using the d ACCOUNT Settings App will not be available during this period. Passkey Device Settings remains available while your Phone Number Storage subscription is active; however, some d ACCOUNT services may not be available depending on your settings.

[Mail Address Storage]

  • If you wish to store your mail address, you must apply for Mail Address Storage at the same time as applying for Phone Number Storage. You cannot apply for Mail Address Storage alone.
  • If you cancel Mail Address Storage while Phone Number Storage is active, you will not be able to reuse the mail address used at the time of the Mail Address Storage application, even if you reapply for sp-mode when canceling Phone Number Storage.

[Billing Plans and Discounts]

  • The flat-rate charges of billing plans, Packet Flat-Rate services, and other services are not calculated on a per diem basis; therefore, the full monthly fee will apply (except for ISP services).
  • Monthly fees for Phone Number Storage and Mail Address Storage are not eligible for discount services.
  • Family Discount does not apply while Phone Number Storage is active; however, it is still counted toward the number of lines in the discount group.
  • For Minna DOCOMO Wari, if Phone Number Storage is in effect for the entire month (from the first day to the last day), the line is not counted toward the number of lines in the discount group for that month.
  • When canceling Phone Number Storage, you cannot select Zutto DOCOMO Wari Course or Free Course.

[Other Services]

  • The following services remain available even while Phone Number Storage is active.
  • docomo Hikari, d CARD/d CARD GOLD U/d CARD GOLD/d CARD PLATINUM *5, d POINT CLUB *5, docomo Business Members *5, My docomo *5
    1. Some services may be subject to restrictions.
  • If the Phone Number Storage period of the mobile phone line paired with docomo Hikari expires and your 5G/Xi subscription is terminated, the payment method for docomo Hikari will be automatically changed to payment by bill.
  • Some services will not be calculated on a per diem basis, regardless of the number of days used before activating Phone Number Storage.
  • Even while Phone Number Storage is active, you can use d CARD, d CARD GOLD U, d CARD GOLD, or d CARD PLATINUM; however, as a general rule they cannot be used with Osaifu-Keitai. If the iD card information on your device has not been deleted, d CARD (iD) can still be used and charges will apply. If you do not intend to use d CARD (iD), please fully format the IC card on your device.
  • If you are currently subscribed to Sub-Line Service, you must cancel it yourself via the Sub-Line Service Reception Site before activating Phone Number Storage. Please note that approval may take some time, and any charges incurred during this period, such as call and SMS charges for Sub-Line Service, will be billed separately.
