- Incoming call charges apply to calls answered by the 'Answering Memo' function.
- Voice/data communications charges may apply to domestic collect calls, toll-free calls, calling card calls, or pre-paid card calls made in the country you're roaming in. No charges apply for calling local emergency numbers (police, ambulance, etc.) (except in some countries or regions). Japanese toll-free numbers cannot be called from overseas.
- i-mode messages and free calls within a group, such as Family Discount, are not free when used overseas (they are free when used in Japan).
- Depending on the country and carrier, voice/data communications charges may be incurred even if a call does not go through, for example if the call connects to a recorded message or rings but is not picked up.
- Communications allowances (FOMA comprehensive plan only) can be used for international service voice/data communications charges.

Enter [+] [81 (Japan country code)] [phone number] ⇒ Call
Example: Japanese mobile number 080 XXXX XXXX

- If the mobile phone number or area code begins with 0, omit the leading 0 and enter the rest of the phone number (except in some countries and regions).
To enter [+]: Press and hold [0] for over a second.
- The method for entering [+] varies by model. Please check your instruction manual or other documentation for details.

International Dial Assist settings
- A confirmation screen is displayed asking if you want to automatically change the first [0] of the phone number to [+] and the Japan country code [81].

- Only works with numbers starting with 0. Calls to some countries and regions other than Japan (e.g. Italy) are not supported. The phone number will not be automatically converted if it is registered to your Phonebook with [184] or [186] at the start.
- If calling a local number, or one registered in your Phonebook in international format, select "Dial original number."
- Some smartphone models do not have International Dial Assist settings.
- If the call does not connect when dialing as above, enter the country code, area code (city code), and then the number. Available country codes: USA (Mainland) [1], Germany [49]
- If the call does not connect when dialing as above while roaming in Mexico, enter [01] followed by the area code (city code), and then the number. If calling from Hawaii, enter the country code [1], area code (city code), and then the number.
How to Receive Calls while Roaming

The Caller enters [mobile phone number]
Incoming calls are transferred from Japan to the country you're roaming in, which incurs incoming call charges.
Receive calls from outside Japan
The caller enters [country international access code] [81 (Japan country code)] [your mobile phone number with the first 0 (zero) omitted] ⇒ Call
Example: Someone in the UK calls your mobile number 080 XXXX XXXX while you are roaming in the USA (Mainland)

Incoming calls are transferred from Japan to the country you're roaming in, which incurs incoming call charges.
- If the mobile phone number or area code begins with 0, omit the first 0 and enter the rest of the number (except in some countries and regions).
- Even if you configured Caller ID Notification, a notice that Caller ID is not available or blocked may be displayed instead of the correct number. If this happens, you may not be connected if the person being called is using services or functions to restrict incoming calls, but may still incur voice/data communications charges.
Call a roaming DOCOMO mobile phone from Japan
The party calling from Japan incurs normal voice communications charges.
Incoming calls are transferred from Japan to the country you're roaming in, which incurs incoming call charges.
