Mobile Communications Network -4.Pocket Bell Paging Network

The Pocket Bell paging service, which originally started as paging service by regional area, has been transformed into "Dokodemo Multi" service that provides coverage throughout the entire nation by means of a single pager. This was made possible by the development of the advanced radio paging system called FLEX-TD in 1996, which utilizes packet communications.

As each pager's location is registered at specific radio paging equipment, radio signals must be transferred to that specific paging station when a paging call is made. This transfer uses the packet communications network, and the signals are converted in accordance with normal procedures and the message is then displayed on the pager.
