NTT DoCoMo announced today a minor update to software for the FOMA D900i. We encourage our users to make this software update to improve mobile phone performance as shown below.
This update fixes the following issues:
- The process for the FOMA D900i to initiate communications cannot be made properly in some In-building Mobile Communication System (IMCS) service areas. That results in an inability to make or receive voice calls or packet communications (i-mode mail or i-mode).

This issue may also occur in service areas for the OFFICEED internal voice call service for companies, which uses IMCS. OFFICEED was announced on August 8, 2006 (Japanese language press release only), and is scheduled to commence operation in February 2007. |
This software update also includes other enhancements for the FOMA D900i in addition to solving the issue above.

It takes approximately 2 to 10 minutes to download and update software. Please note that the mobile phone will not be available for use during this time. The Timer Update function will enable you to perform software updates while you are asleep or other times that are convenient for you, so we recommend that you take advantage of this function.
Also note that you should never remove the battery pack while updating software, as it will cause the phone to malfunction. |

Updates of the software can be done while keeping Phonebook entries, camera images, downloaded data and other data saved on the phone intact. However, please note that in some cases data cannot be protected depending on the condition of your mobile phone (malfunction, damage, water exposure, etc.). It is recommended that you back up necessary data. |

If the software update fails, please bring the phone to a repair counter designated by DoCoMo. |
2. How to update your software
Please refer to the D900i Software Update Simplified Operating Procedures below or P. 272 to 277 of the Manual for FOMA D900i (Basic).

Packet communications charges do not apply to perform software updates. |

If you wish for DoCoMo staff to perform the software update, please bring your phone to a repair counter designated by DoCoMo. |
