DOCOMO to Ensure Mt. Fuji Climbers Have High-Quality Mobile Access
TOKYO, JAPAN, June 30, 2016 --- NTT DOCOMO, INC. announced today that it will offer PREMIUM 4GTM LTE-Advanced mobile communications services with a maximum downlink of 375Mbps, as well as FOMATM 3G service, at the summit of Mount Fuji, Japan's highest mountain and one of UNESCO's World Cultural Heritage Sites. The service will be available during the summer climbing season from July 10 to later in August.
DOCOMO also will offer an extra-fast maximum downlink of 337.5Mbps, compared with the usual 225Mbps, on the Subashiri, Gotemba, Fujinomiya and Yoshida trails, the most heavily used routes to the 3,776-meter summit.
Also, DOCOMO Wi-Fi® hotspots will be located at selected cabins on the slopes. Shared tablets available in some cabins will enable climbers to enjoy the company's translation app, Hanashite Hon'yakuTM, plus dTVTM video streaming and many other premier mobile services from DOCOMO.
Going forward, DOCOMO will continue to ensure that Mount Fuji climbers enjoy high-quality mobile services as part of its initiative to enhance the quality of mobile communications in expanded coverage areas around Japan.
