NTT DOCOMO “Xi” LTE Subscribers Top 5 Million

TOKYO, JAPAN, August 20, 2012 --- NTT DOCOMO, INC., Japan’s leading mobile operator and provider of integrated services centered on mobility, announced today that subscribers to Xi™ (pronounced “crossy”), the company’s extra-high-speed LTE mobile service offering a maximum downlink of 75 Mbps, surpassed five million on August 19.

Xi reached five million subscribers less than one month after surpassing the four million mark on July 22. The pace accelerated from this summer after DOCOMO introduced a lineup of a Xi-compatible smartphones that offer more variety to meet customer needs.

Going forward, DOCOMO will continue to deliver enhanced customer satisfaction with its Xi smartphones, as well as compatible mobile Wi-Fi® routers and other devices, and services such as Xi Talk 24™ for free, unlimited voice calls between Xi subscribers.
