TOKYO, JAPAN, November 25, 2003 --- NTT DoCoMo, Inc. announced today that it will market P2402, the first FOMA® CompactFlash™ card that will enable 3G videophone and other wireless data communications via PCs and PDAs such as DoCoMo's sigmarion® III, beginning November 28, 2003.
The new flash card will enable PDA users to begin enjoying FOMA services, as DoCoMo presently provides the PC typed FOMA card that is only applicable to PCs with PC card slots.
DoCoMo's new flash memory card will enable videophone calls* between PCs and such devices as FOMA handsets, Lookwalk® P751v PHS videophones, P-in Free™ series PHS data card-equipped devices and ISDN fixed line videophones. A PC equipped with videophone software** and a USB compatible web camera and headset are both necessary.
P2402 will offer high-speed packet transmissions of up to 384 kbps for downlinks and 64 kpbs for uplinks, as well as 64 kpbs for circuit-switched data transmissions.
The CompactFlash card is also compatible with PCs that do not have CF slots by using the standard accessory adopter for PC connections.
P2402 will be sold through all DoCoMo channels and the internet at http://www.foma-datacard.com (Japanese only). The website will begin accepting applications at 10:00 a.m. on November 28.
The terminal price including the standard accessory PC card adapter will be open (not fixed), and DoCoMo will sell the PC card adapter for 2,600 yen.
