NTT DoCoMo announced today a minor update to software for FOMA SH903i. We encourage our users to make this software update to improve mobile phone performance as shown below.
This update fixes the following issues:
- If the Receiving Mail settings have been configured to display the mail received screen with Flash images, the handset will switch off and on again when the following two settings/operations are carried out:
Applicable settings/operations
- When the mail ringtone for a specified mail address is set to i-motion with sound only, Chaku-Uta, or Chaku-Uta Full.
- When the handset is then opened within thirty seconds of the arrival of a message from a mail address with the above settings if the message is received when the handset is closed.
|
Flash is an animation technology developed by Macromedia, Inc. |
- When an image photographed with FOMA F903i or D903i handsets is sent as a mail attachment before it is resized or otherwise edited, some information required to display the image will not be included. This means that the image cannot be displayed when the mail is received on a FOMA SH903i handset.
|
As reported on Monday, December 11 in Software Updates for FOMA F903i and D903i, this error is being fixed for FOMA F903i and D903i handsets. This update, however, will allow you to view images from FOMA F903i and D903i handsets that could not be displayed without the update being made for those handsets. |
This software update also includes other enhancements for the FOMA SH903i in addition to solving the issues above.
1. Notes
|
It takes approximately 6 minutes to download and update software. Please note that the mobile phone will not be available for use during this time. The Timer Update function will enable you to perform software updates while you are asleep or other times that are convenient for you, so we recommend that you take advantage of this function.
Also note that you should never remove the battery pack while updating software, as it will cause the phone to malfunction. |
|
Updates of the software can be done while keeping Phonebook entries, camera images, downloaded data and other data saved on the phone intact. However, please note that in some cases data cannot be protected depending on the condition of your mobile phone (malfunction, damage, water exposure, etc.). It is recommended that you back up necessary data. |
|
If the software update fails, please bring the phone to a repair counter designated by DoCoMo. |
2. How to update your software
Please refer to the SH903i Software Update Simplified Operating Procedures below or P. 451 to 456 of your user’s manual.
|
Packet communications charges do not apply to perform software updates. |
